Awareness programme for Gender Based Violence held in Pofadder

The Poffader Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit under the command of Sgt John Nortje launched a project addressing Sexual Offences at the Francois Visser Primary School in Pofadder.

On 23 August 2021, the team visited the school in Pofadder and addressed approximately 87 learners and 11 educators. The topics addressed included gender based violence, sexual offences, bullying and child pornography. The learners and their educators were also informed about the various reporting processes for cases involving these different issues.

The Provincial Head of FCS units, Brig Nicky Mills commended Sgt Nortje and his team for the initiative and reiterated that the SAPS will continue its mandate to protect and serve, especially as we are celebrating Women’s month.
