Accused charged for corruption out on bail

FREE STATE – The accused, Nomasonto Nxumalo (29) appeared before the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court today, 26 May 2021 where she was facing charges of corruption.

It is alleged that Nxumalo approached a traffic official on Friday, 21 May 2021 where she requested him to issue her a learners driver’s license without following normal processes. She offered the traffic official R500-00 which she promised to pay on Tuesday, 25 May 2021 via ewallet. The traffic official reported the matter to the police and a case was handed over to the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation in Bloemfontein.

An operation was conducted by members of the Hawks assisted by Park Road detectives on Tuesday, 25 May 2021 where Nomasonto was arrested after she transferred the money to the traffic official via ewallet.

The case has been postponed to Friday, 23 July 2021 for further investigation and the acussed is out on bail.
