The City of Cape Town has invested R41 million to resurface and rehabilitate roads in Hanover Park over a period of approximately 12 months.
In total, this maintenance project will cover a 13 287 square metres of road and sidewalks in various designated areas within Hanover Park.
The 12-month project commenced 25 May 2021 and will be completed by mid-year in 2022, if all goes as planned.
Road users in Hanover Park can look forward to all of the sidewalks, driveways and ramps being upgraded and kerbs being replaced in the designated areas. Some concrete roads will be cracked and sealed in order for new rubber asphalt to be placed. Very importantly, the storm water run-off into the existing system will also be redesigned.
‘The City has invested over R41 million into the road maintenance for Hanover Park. If all goes according to plan, by next year this time residents and commuters will be able to benefit from the new road infrastructure in the area. The roadworks are well underway and I am happy with the progress made since we commenced a month ago. We are focused and committed to keep on delivering services to communities, of which road maintenance forms a big part. I ask that the residents in Hanover Park to please support this project and thank them in advance for their patience and cooperation,’ said the City’s Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato.

• Halman Walk
• Flat Road
• Hanall Walk
• Groenpoort walk

‘Cape Town’s road network is one of the city’s biggest assets and a well-developed road network is critical for all residents. We are therefore conducting regular planned maintenance and improvements across the City to keep the road network in a good condition’, said Executive Mayor, Dan Plato.
The local labour target of eight percent for this project will be achieved as well as the local enterprise target of five percent.
