Eastern Cape SAPS laid to rest Sergeant Nyameko Mbelani

CENTANE – The District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu and his senior management were paid of the mourners who went to pay their last respect to Sergeant Mbelani who was laid to rest today at Centane. He was fatally shot in the line of duty at Dutywa beginning of the month.

Mr Mbelani from the family described Nyameko as a disciplined person who loved his family, his job and a family man. It is unfortunate that he is living behind his parents, wife and kids

The Station Commander of Dutywa SAPS Lieutenant Colonel Mphetshethwa characterised Sergeant Mbelani as a go-getter who always ensured that the community of Dutywa is safe and secured. “The Dutywa community, together with SAPS family has lost a disciplined and humble police official.”

The District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu appreciated the family in assisting Sergeant Mbelani when he joined the men and women in blue (SAPS) in the fight against crime.

Sergeant Mbelani has 16 years of loyal service meaning he was dedicated to fighting crime in our country.

The SAPS Chaplain Warrant Officer (Rev) Ngcephe comforted the family and reminded them that in everything they must trust in God. 

Mr Mbelani thanked the SAPS for being there from the day Nyameko was shot up until today. Your efforts, love and kindness didn’t go unnoticed, he added.
