GIYANI – The South African Police in Giyani had on Friday, 30 July 2021, tightened the security with a crime awareness campaign to ensure safety for community members in the Central Business District of Masingita Mall and Taxi rank in Mopani District.
The Campaign was conducted through loud hailing and one on one interaction with the community members, led by the Social Crime Prevention Coordinators, Sergeant Maluleke and Sergeant Mashaba, Reservist Constable Bevhula, Communication Officer Ridgewell Rikhotso along with the Community Policing Forum and YCOPs.
During the campaign members also distributed pamphlets containing crime prevention safety tips.
The following issues were addressed with the community members:
• Fraud
• Burglaries
• Shoplifting
• Stolen goods
• Theft by false pretences
• Theft of copper cables
• Theft out of motor vehicles
• Compliance with the adjusted Level 3 Disaster Management Act Regulations.
They wrapped up the programme by encouraging the Community members to break the silence against gender-based violence (GBV), sexual offences and to report criminal activities taking place in their area.
