Suspect expected to appear in court on allegations of raping a male pensioner

NELSPRUIT -The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned an incident in which a 25-year-old man allegedly raped a 62-year-old male pensioner in Bushbuckridge during the evening of Monday, 20 June 2022.

According to the information, on the said day at around 20:30, the victim alleges that he was relaxed in his house at Ga-Motibidi and the door of his house was not closed. He then noticed a suspect known to him entering his room and he asked him what he wanted. The suspect then allegedly grabbed the victim and pushed him to the bed and raped him.

After the incident, he took cash belonging to the old man that was on top of the table and left. The suspect was traced and arrested. He is expected to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court today, 22 June 2022 facing a charge of rape.
