City advises of leak detection project in the Sunningdale and Table View areas

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be conducting leak detection tests on the water supply network in the Sunningdale and Table View areas which have been identified as having excessive water consumption. The tests will take place from Monday, 3 October 2022 until Monday, 10 October 2022. This work will be done at night time from 18:00 until 24:00 and will not have any impact on the water supply to this area. Read more below:

The Water and Sanitation Directorate is embarking on a project to determine the cause of the high water consumption in the Sunningdale and Table View areas. This will involve a technical team which will be using specialised equipment to do the tests. This equipment will be temporarily attached to the fire hydrants and valves in the area without interfering with the water supply.

The technical team doing the tests will be clearly identified by their City of Cape Town branded clothing and identification cards and will be accompanied by Water and Sanitation branded vehicles.

This work forms part of the City’s Water Demand Management Strategy. Managing water consumption more effectively reduces the possibility of unaccounted for water as well as water wastage.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused.
