Police in Kariega seek mother of abandoned child: Gqeberha

GQEBERHA - The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Kariega are searching for the mother who abandoned her little girl during the early hours of this morning.

It is alleged that at about 01:00, the woman left the child with some vagrants who were sleeping behind the Van Vuuren garage in Caledon Street in Kariega. The child who is about 4 or 5 years old was brought to the police station after the mother failed to fetch her. The woman is not known to any of the vagrants.

The child does not have any information about her residence, only that she is known as Kayla Jacobs.

Police are investigating a case of child abandonment and are appealing to anyone who can assist in tracing the mother or family of the child to contact Detective Captain Sone Van Dyk on 083 234 8126 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station. All information is confidential and callers may remain anonymous.

Community members warned of a tiger on the loose

PARKTOWN - The community members are urged to be on alert after a tiger escaped from a smallholding at Kliprivier area on Saturday, 14 January 2023.

It is reported that the tiger escaped from its cage and attacked a 39-year-old man and a dog in the area.

Members of the public are warned not to approach the animal for their own safety instead contact the Crime Stop Line 08600 10111.
