Suspect bust with bags stuffed with dagga in transit

NELSPRUIT - Police in Malelane acted swiftly to a tip off which led to the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect, Ntando Ntimane, for possession of bags stuffed with 114 Kg of dagga estimated at R1 710 000 street value in a vehicle that was hidden in a sugarcane farm about two kilometres out of town on 04 January 2023 at about 07:00.

Police were alerted by members of the local security company about the suspicious vehicle.

Without a waste of time, police responded to the complaint in the identified location.

Only the driver was found in the vehicle and upon searching the vehicle, bags with different name tags on them stuffed with dagga were recovered.

The suspect was arrested and made a brief court appearance in Nkomazi Magistrate's court sitting in Tonga yesterday where he was granted R1 000-00 bail.

Ntimane is expected to make his second court appearance on Friday 03 February 2023.

The Provincial Management applauded members for their stunning job and commended the partnership displayed by both the security companies and the police.

Suspect sought for taxi related killing

QUMBU - The South African Police Service Organised Crime Investigation Unit is investigating two cases of murder which occurred on Wednesday evening 4 January 2023 at about 18:30 at Sithangameni, in Qumbu.

According to the information, the taxi driver (45) together with a passenger (40) were short at by an unidentified suspect who allegedly pretended to be one of the passengers in a local taxi. It is alleged that as the driver was busy delivering other commuters in the local villages, the suspect who was wearing a traditional gear requested the driver to drop him at Sithangameni as he was going to Gurha village. At the stop, the driver was busy counting his change when the suspect suddenly drew a firearm and shot both the driver and the passenger to death.

The circumstances which surround the shooting incident are currently under investigation. Police have opened two murder cases. No arrest has been made at this stage.

Police launch manhunt for murder suspects

SULENKAMA - Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has expressed shock and dismay at the killing of family members on Thursday evening 5 January 2023 at about 20:00 at Nyanisweni Locality, in Sulenkama, Qumbu.

According to the information, SAPS members received a complaint that there was a shooting incident at Nyanisweni locality. As they responded and on their arrival at the scene of crime, they were shown four (4) deceased bodies in a rondavel with gunshots wounds on their upper bodies. Details in relation to the circumstances under which they died and the suspects who murdered them are still unclear at this stage. The identity and the number of the suspects is currently unknown.

Police have registered four cases of murder for investigation. No arrest has been made at this stage. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mene has ordered the Organised Crime Investigation unit to ensure that those responsible for the killings are arrested within a very short space of time and brought before the court of law.

The deceased family members are:

Mr Limasile Tshwane (60)

Mr Bulelani Tshwane (52)

Mr Nqobile Tshwane (15)

Mr Unako Tshwane (15)
