Four suspects arrested for running illegal abalone processing facility

WESTERN CAPE – The Hawks’ Economic Protected Resources (EPR) and South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) teams together with Crime Intelligence and officials from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment have arrested four suspects for allegedly running an abalone processing facility.

The multi-disciplinary team uncovered an illegal abalone drying facility in Killarney Gardens during a search and seizure operation on Monday, 02 January 2023.

The team found 8993 units weighing 2 475,91 kg of wet abalone, kept in plastic buckets, with an estimated street value of more than R4,5 million.

Four suspects aged between 24 and 39 were subsequently arrested and are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 04 January 2023.

Help police to unite a 19-year-old teenager with his family

NELSPRUIT - Police in Wakkestroom are appealing to the community in helping them locate Mr Tevin Wanya Frederick Filand (19). He was last seen by his father on Thursday, 29 December 2022 when his father left for work at around 16:00. On Friday 30, December 2022 it is said that his father returned home at around 18:00 but did not find Tevin at home. A search for him ensued but was without any success. That was when his father decided to report the matter to the Wakkestroom Police Station.

Police therefore urge anyone who might know his whereabouts to urgently contact Detective Warrant Officer Johan Maritz on 082 579 0493. Members of the public can also call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111. Alternatively information can be sent via MySAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

Police arrest eight suspects for stock theft

REITZ - Eight suspects will appear in court after being caught red-handed while slaughtering alleged stolen sheep.

A joint operation was conducted between Reitz and Petrus Steyn police, where eight suspects were arrested after being found in possession of 48 slaughtered and 40 live sheep.

On 30 December 2022 at about 02:10, the Reitz police received an urgent call about an alleged theft of sheep in progress at a certain farm.

The Community Service Centre activated other police officials who managed to trace and find the suspects with bloody clothes, which led them to the recovery of 48 slaughtered and 40 live sheep in the field. The local farmer confirmed that the 88 sheep were stolen and are indeed his.

The police arrested eight suspects and seized five vehicles (three sedans and two bakkies). The eight suspects aged between 27 and 46 have been charged and are expected to appear before Reitz Magistrate Court facing charges of stock theft.

Public assistance is required by the police in Malamulele to locate a missing woman

MALAMULELE - The Police in Malamulele request for public assistance to locate a missing woman, Rendani Eunice Khangala aged 30 from Duthuni village in Muswodi.

It is alleged that on Thursday 29 December 2022, Rendani went to Shongwedzi Clinic and she never returned back home.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rendani made a turn at the clinic confirmed by the nurses and it was reported that shecollected her medication on the day of her disappearance.

Anyone with information that can assist to reunite Rendani with her family to please contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer Thanyane Bakela at 082 319 9723, or the Crime stop number at 08600 10111 alternatively report to the nearest police station. Operations Vala Konke yielded good results over the long weekend

AMATHOLE DISTRICT - In an effort to fight crime in the Amathole District, police members stamped the authority when they embarked on Operation Vala Konke and managed to arrest over 40 suspects aged between 21 and 53 years over the long weekend.

These arrest comes after police conducted various operations around the Amathole District and its policing precinct. The suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from dealing and possession of drugs, robbery, common assault, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, murder, selling liquor without a license and rape. Police also intensify a high visibility in the CBD, ATMs, beaches, malls and stop and search was also conducted as part of preventing crime and ensuring that our citizens are safe and secure. During their patrols they closed shebeens as more crime emanate from liquor and liquor was confiscated. Five unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as dangerous weapons were confiscated.

Police also conducted roadblock within Amathole areas and fines to the value of more than R40 000-00 were issued to motorists and five suspects were arrested for drunken driving. In Alice one suspect was arrested for possession of dagga at Kei Bridge.

All the suspects will appear in various Magistrate Courts within the Amathole District today and Wednesday.

The District Commissioner Major General Ngangema Xakavu applauded the members for their excellent work and encouraged them to continue to arrest these criminals. “We will continue intensifying more boots on the ground to enhance police visibility to ensure that our communities are safe and secured at all times” he added.

Despatch Detectives seek community assistance in locating missing man

GQEBERHA – SAPS Despatch Detectives is urgently seeking the community’s assistance in locating a 27-year-old man who went missing on Thursday, 29 December 2022. It is alleged that Sivuyile Mzananda was visiting a friend in Khayamnandi, Despatch when he left the friend’s house on foot at about 01:23.

Mzananda was clad in a blue pair of denim jeans, yellow short sleeve shirt and white Adidas tekkies. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sgt Christine Jonck on 082 441 7828, 041 933 8000, SAPS Crime Stop 08600 10111 or contact the nearest police station. Public urged to assist in re-uniting a 40-year-old woman with her family

NELSPRUIT - The Police in Nelspruit urge the public to assist in re-uniting Ms Mbali Petronella Masinga (40) with her family.

It is said that she went missing in Nelspruit on 05 December 2022. The clothing that she was wearing during her disappearance is unknown. It is also reported that she is employed as a General Worker at Riverside in Nelspruit.
