GQEBERHA – SAPS New Brighton detectives are appealing to the community to assist them in their investigation after a 31-year-old man was found dead near his car in Mandleni Street during the early hours of Sunday morning, 8 August 2021.
It is alleged that at about 00:52, police responded to a call of a vehicle, a black VW Caddy standing in the middle of the street. On arrival, they found a male lying on the road near the driver’s side door. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds. There was no one in the street at the time. Nothing appeared to be taken from the vehicle.
Circumstances and motive for the fatal shooting is unknown at this stage. The deceased was identified by his mother later in the day as Lukhanyo Raxa of Tabata Street.
A case of murder is under investigation.
